    In this day and age, it is almost impossible to go through the day without using some form of­­­­­­­technology. Technology is considered to be the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes such as cellular phones, televisions, and online study tools.

    New and innovative ways have been created in order to adapt to the way people live today. Since the 1920's different forms of technology have been created to assists with the raising of the youth. The purpose of these technologies is to create faster and easier ways to teach and entertain young children.

     

    However, though this technology is made to make life better, there are also the negative aspects of it. Just as any other invention, technology also has its own possible side effects that affect people of all ages, even young children. This idea is not to argue the point that technology is overall bad f­or young children, but instead that the overuse of technology is what is causing social development issues in children, and is becoming a rapidly growing problem for young children.

    Cyber Bullying

    Bullying has been a problem that constantly plagues school systems. Unfortunately, with technology becoming such a large part of children's lives, bullying has transferred to the digital world, with frightening new problems.

    43% of children have been cyberbullied at some point in their life, to percent more than those who have been bullied in person.

    Social Development Problems

    Children who spend at least seven hours a day in front of some sort of screen, or using technology tend to develop social ill beings. This is not true for all children, as there are always exceptions.

    Social ill beings include problems such as signs of depression, irritability when not online, and lack of sensitivity in real life conversation.

    Parents and Teachers need to Step up

    Children from the ages of four to twelve still require guidance when it comes to everyday tasks and learning. Incorporating technology into their lives correctly is no different. In order for the problem to be solved, both parents and teachers need to come together to find ways to introduce children to technology.

    One such step includes learning about technology themselves.

    Parents

    More often than not, the first defense between Children and how they use technology starts with the parents. Parents are responsible for the technology that children use in the household, how long they use it, and how whether they will continue to use it more in the future. With this being said there are many parents who are concerned with how overusing technology is affecting their children.

    Educators

    Since the 1920's technology has been integrated into the classroom. These new technologies have allowed for new and better ways of teaching. However, this also means that children are exposed to different forms of technology that they would not normally use, or they are required to use certain forms more. Therefore teachers have spoken up about how they have successfully introduced technology to the children without over stimulating them. Click here to read more.

    The Youth

    As Children grow older they become more aware of their environments. Older children will be more inclined to learn about the different platforms they are using. Some children have even decided to take a stand against problems from overuse of technology.
